Fun in the Sun

We went outside and played on the playground on Thursday. I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of the cutest first graders ever!

Book Character Day

In honor of Dr. Seuss' Birthday, the students were invited to dress as their favorite book characters for the day. Here is a sampling of who walked through our classroom door:

Pippi Longstocking
2 Junie B. Jones

Thing 1 and Thing 2
And of course....

Amelia Bedelia and another Junie B. Jones. (We couldn't let the students have all the fun!)

Secret Reader

On Monday our class had a Secret Reader come and read a Dr. Seuss book to the class. Can you guess who it was?
Officer Smitherman, Cooper's Dad!

The kids thought it was great that a real, live policeman was in our classroom. They had lots and lots of questions for him. He was very patient and answered each and every one. Then...

he showed us his police car! It was very exciting!

Thank you, Officer Smitherman, for coming to visit our classroom!

Snow, Snow, and More Snow

I snapped these first 2 pictures of the snow that was falling as we were let out of school early on Friday, January 29.

The snow makes the school look so pretty!

It was so fun to actually see snow here in Alabama. I just wish it had stayed around a little longer.
These next 2 pictures were taken on Monday, February 8. That was the unexpected snow we got.

Right outside our classroom window

Looking at the front of the school. Thankfully this snow melted quickly so that we didn't have to leave early again!

Happy 100 Day!

Last Monday we celebrated the 100th Day of School!

We made Fruit Loop necklaces with 100 Fruit Loops and 100 day crowns, and we counted to 100 over and over and over! We also had some yummy trail mix to eat for snack.

This picture includes our Student Teacher, Mrs. Fugate. We are really enjoying her in our class!
